Teaching for me was not my first career choice. My life led me down many different paths; ultimately leading me to a small elementary school in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. I believe an educator is one who could not imagine themselves in any other role but being with their students. They are those that have a deep belief that this is their calling and purpose in life. Teachers must reflect those that have a positive and caring character to provide safety for students. Above all, educators must be knowledgeable in their content area. They must be pursuers of higher knowledge and applications in their personal and professional life. Their temperament should be patient, enthusiastic, hardworking, and understanding. A teacher should be committed to education and dedicated to inspiring the love of learning in others.
My goals for this year were first to re-emphasize to my students the importance of learning another language. Second, to implement technology into the lessons because I believe it increases student engagement and prepares students for the future. Finally, I have committed and completed the Atlas units for the elementary Spanish department. Below is one of my favorite you-tube videos. I believe as an educator, I am responsible for teaching students to be risk-takers who are willing to accept challenges and think out-side the box!
